neapolitan mastiff protecion ?

hello i own a neapolitan mastiff he is very good at tug and always barking at strangers (none of the has petted them he is in an seperate room) when researching the breed i have find out that they need no personal protection lessons since they are natural however im not conivnced because he is just playing with me how can this play turn into defense in the future ?? when a REAL danger occurs ? he has toy prefrences sometimes but he bites all the textures MY MAIN QUESTION THE DEFENSE AND FIGHT DRIVE IS GOING TO DEVELOP ONLY FROM TUGGING AUTOMATICLY ?? thanks guys you really are the best i love your work and cant get enough of it post more pp videos if you can )

While it is true that Neopolitans are protective as a breed, and the qualities that are necessary for a good protection dog may be present in your dog, proper training is a MUST.
Training with a tug alone will not teach a dog the necessary tools to be properly protection trained for a real life situation.

A properly trained protection dog should not only be able to show aggression but most importantly know when and where it is appropriate . Control, boundries and structure are important for any dog with strong protective instincts especially one who is protection trained.
