    Default Really hate egotistical trainers/decoys....

OK, I am looking around for decent trainers and/or a PSA club in Texas since we will be moving in May. CHeck out the email one sent to me....I deleted the name and email of the person I sent it to..........

Hi there, welcome to TX, our club is full right now but maybe something open up in May, I can probably help you with decoy work if you just want your dog to stay sharp and release some energy on me (-:, but as for joining our club, we are not right for you, I don't believe in the type of training your are doing, target weapon arm or switching target like that, and actually no police or military department in the world or any legit sport program including PSA train that way either, so sorry I can not help you continuing training your dog that way in our club, but like I said if you want your dog to have a bite and stay sharp, I would be glad to help you.

    Subject: PP training, PSA club

    Hello,
We will be moving to Forney, Texas around mid-May from NY where I currently do PP training with my 5 1/2 year old male Dogo Argentino. I am looking for helpers and/or a club to join in the area to continue my work with him. I actually would like to try some PSA with him and try to title him. I currently train twice a week with him now for about two years and I think he will become depressed if I don't continue to work him. He gets so excited when he knows he is going to training! Here is a video that my trainer videotaped, working my dogo and a rottie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGuYvC46M68
I am hoping he posts the video soon where we are doing attack on handler now. Thanks for taking the time to read this email.

id like to get my dog started (or just evaluated) in PP training. but ive searched a lot on the internet and i just cant find anyone who does what mike and earl do. these guys are the only people ive ever seen who train for the reality of a situation that would require a dog to protect. i see Schutzhund vs. PP the same as i see Tae Kwon Do vs. mixed martial arts. one incorporates fancy moves that look cool and you win prizes for scoring points, and the other is real world fighting. Period.

everyone around here (california) either does law enforcement training or schutzhund. I DONT WANT EITHER ONE! and i dont even want my dog evaluated by a trainer who does LE or schutzhund stuff because they will either tell me that my dog doesnt have what it takes (wont score points for appearance or some other BS), or they will tell me that she would be great just because they want my money.

i wish i could just go work with mike and earl....or the next best thing would be to have someone on the west coast who has the same mind set, training experience and who uses the foundation system.

Mike or Earl, have you guys found any trainers here in california that you would even think to recommend to me?

    thanks, you guys are awesome,
    Jeremy

Yea, leeme you tell you Jeremy, Mike and his crew are the only things I am going to miss in NY, and I am gonna miss them BIG TIME. I plan on trying to "spread" their training methods in Texas though.

yeah it's starting to hit me that you and Toro will not be around. Don't worry about egotistical trainers. The interpretation of his reply was really "I don't know how to do what you are doing and I am closed minded so I will just put it down" lol!

Most dogs do not target weapon arms because the trainers used sleeves in early training or are training the dogs for sport and want to see the dog take a beating. There is no way anyone could ever convince me that going for the weapon arm is wrong. The right way and the easy way are seldom the same thing in dog training.

I may not LOVE sport type training, but I will still cater to my clients desires if they are looking for an outlet for Schutzhund, French ring, etc.. type agitation.

You will find someone with an open mind.

Looks good, they seem very open to the clients' needs and wants - unlike you know who...

Just a word of warning on the trainer you just listed. I live in Texas (Arlington) and I have actually DRIVEN an hour out to meet this guy at his place and have him take a look at my (already) trained shepherd whom I was having issues with. I am not sure this man is ethical or obedience focused. Do take a very close look at his 'facility' and his trained animals currently there. When I was there he had a large dog in the house that was 'his' personal dog that he flat out told us would attack us if he let it out of the house. He mentioned a Rotti he trained to be similarly aggressive. That doesn't sound like a good trainer to me and is ultimately why I did not use him. Since I decided not to use him I will not say he is not a good trainer concretely, but I would be careful about him. He seemed to be someone that trained protection dogs as mindless attack animals.

Irocubabe, if you could shoot me a PM on who you use(d), I am moving to the outskirts of FOrney, closer to Terrell and Mesquite. My dog is already OB trained and I am just expanding on developing his PP skills more(he is PP trained already). Thanks!! They need to have "off breed" experience....my dog is Toro, the Dogo Argentino you see in one of Mike's videos.
