Which is best? outdoors during the day, or crated inside?

Is there a problem with leaving my dogs in the fenced back yard while I'm at work? or should I leave them crated in the house? These fine fall days, they love being outside, but I don't want to do anything that's counter-productive to establishing myself as their leader.

Hi there!
If your dogs are reliable to stay in the yard then I would choose the yard over the crate. Either keep them inside on days with questionable weather or make sure outdoor shelter is available.
Keeping them in the yard won't affect leadership, but make sure to still leave them with engaging things such as interactive toys and kongs to keep them out of trouble.
