I just wanted to share this incidence with others - my Pit Bull and my Hound mix both were able to figure out how to lift the cover on their guillotine style doggy door and get loose.
We have had this doggy door in place for years and one day while I was out walking K & M Stitch decided he didn't want to be home alone. So he must have pushed the sliding door panel up with his nose and scooted out before it slid back down. I assume it happend this way because if you looked at the doggy door it appeared to be untouched.
Then a few weeks after that Milo figured out how to do the same thing.
Since then, we have put a small hook and eye on the bottom of the panel so we can lock it when we go out.
