Trained Dogs for Adoption

Give a second chance to a dog that has worked hard for the opportunity.

These dogs are all in our care and part of our TRAMP™ program (Training Rehab and Management Program)

They are adopted with special training, lessons and support for the adopter.

Our training facility is located in Northern Westchester County, New York.

Available Dogs

Charlotte

This girl is most likely a German Shepherd / Pitbull mix.  She was released to us from her old owners after about 7 years of living with the family.  Due to her age, aggression issues toward strangers and dogs, and a medical issue that requires medication to control incontinence - Charlotte was refused entrance into any shelter that would allow her to live.

Charlotte has been working hard for a second chance at life - and has completed off-leash and special training that allows her to be safely managed in a family and in public with a trained handler/family.  She is an absolute doll with those she is bonded with and has never showed aggression toward her old family which also included a toddler.  She will make an excellent loyal companion to anyone who desires a dog that will protect the home while they are away or sleeping, but doesn't mind putting her away or managing her with obedience when guests are around.

She has come a LONG way around strangers and continues to improve!  Charlotte comes with (required) free handling lessons and a life time of support through our special "Aggression Support Group Classes".  We prefer a home with no children or other pets.

Bo

Bo for adoptionThis incredibly handsome jet black pitbull was rescued before he was killed at a shelter.  He bares the scars from being fought at one time.  He is under 2 years of age and is full of spunk and life.  He came to us like a bull in a China shop - literally jumping on top of our desks, grabbing every item in site, and pulling and jumping like a loose cannon ball.  What a challenge it has been to channel this boy's energy!

Bo is finishing up on his primary training and we'll have a vid up of him in the near future.  We are so proud of Bo for all his progress.  Wait until you see!  We are looking for someone who can continue to give this boy structure and can match his zest for life!  Handling lessons are free (and required).  Life time training support also included.  This dog can be trained to do anything!

Darren

Are you a fan of the underdog?  This boy was found as a stray - broken, bloodied, and extremely fearful.  He entered a non-kill shelter, and there he stayed for 8 1/2 years.  He had one devoted shelter worker who worked on the weekends, that gained his trust, and was able to take him for walks - but other than her he was too fearful/aggressive for anyone else to interact with.  Darren was a frequent target for advocates of euthanasia.  This shelter believed that Darren deserved more justice than that - and he came to us for his long deserved second chance.

Darren has been making huge strides and has learned so much in such a short period of time.  He is learning trust, obedience, and how to cope with simple everyday tasks that most dogs do that we take for granted.

With some patience we have discovered a very affectionate beast -  a testiment to the hardwired good soul in every dog.  We are looking for a very special person to continue showing this old and arthritic boy what he should have had his whole life.

Darren comes with (required) life time training and support from us.

"Shelter" a.k.a. "Shelly"

Earl Dunn and JuniorShelly is a very handsome and friendly yellow lab.  He loves water, to play fetch, and go on adventures. He will make a great companion for an active person or family.  Shelly comes with incredible off-leash obedience and with our typical lifetime training support that we offer to all our dogs.

Shelly's only issue is that he does exhibit some resource guarding - meaning that he will growl if he is bothered when he is eating or has something of high value.

With Shelly's training and completion of our program we have found the issue to be very manageable and with the right management we never see the issue anymore at the kennel.

Bleu

Bleu is a beautiful and rare silver lab.  She is everything you would want in a lab. Bleu is very loyal and loving to those she is bonded with, loves to fetch, and is very obedient.

Bleu's biggest and major disadvantage is that she is overly defensive of strangers and very protective of her home which are not typical traits of a labrador.

Bleu will make an excellent protector and loyal companion for a household that does not have a lot of visitors or does not mind following strict management guidelines when guests are over.

Bleu's former family loves her very much, but because of the high traffic environment of their home business she will be better suited to a more controlled environment.

You can find a web page made by her owner here: Bleu's page

As with all our dogs for adoption.  Bleu comes with free training support for life.

An old man was walking down the beach just before dawn.  In the distance he saw a young man picking up stranded starfish and gently throwing them back into the ocean.
As the old man approached the young man, he asked,“Good morning! What are you doing?”
The young man paused, looked up, and replied,“Throwing starfish into the ocean. The sun is rising, and the tide is out. And if I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”
“But, young man, don’t you realize that there are miles of beach and thousands of starfish all along it? You
can’t possibly make a difference!”
The young man, listening politely, bent down and picked up another starfish, throwing it into the ocean past the
breaking waves. Turning to the old man, he modestly replied,

“It made a difference for that one.”
